Did you know that according to Feeding America, 1 in 9 people struggle with hunger and 1 in 6 are children?
Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) is a program based on people in your family, income and expenses you will be able to get a “max benefit”. Eligibility.com has a family of 7 and the net monthly income is 1,022 the amount they would be given is $392 a month. Now anyone that goes to the grocery store knows how expensive food is, and that amount for 7 people? I live on a grocery budget for 5 people and it is always a challenge to make sure that I’m buying nutritious foods for my kids on a fixed budget. I couldn’t imagine trying to shop for 7 on that monthly budget. Some other ways to bridge the gap between months are food pantries, mobile food pantry, soup kitchens and micro pantries.
In order to provide for families in need, Provision Lab is hosting a bi-monthly food pantry. We host our pantry Action:Love Pantry at Second Place Church, 6370 Emerald Pkwy Monee, IL 60449. It will be taking place on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of the month. We know that sometimes you may feel a bit overwhelmed with the weight on your shoulders, we want to be able to take that burden of not having food to put on the table. Action:Love Pantry wants to get to know you, we want you to know that you are a welcomed friend.
